Make Fashion Clean (MFC) is a creative non-profit that makes clean and circular fashion. MFC works to align the positive intentions of fashion consumers in the USA with real impact for artisans in Ghana, West Africa. MFC is a 501c3 non-profit organization incorporated as MFC Tie-Dye Inc. in Minnesota, USA. During 2016, a collaboration began between a Ghanaian artisan and an American public health student, resulting in the creation of two organizations--Matilda Flow Inclusion (MFI) Foundation in Ghana and MFC Tie-Dye Inc. in the USA. Supporting MFC as a member of its advisory council is an opportunity to contribute to society through supporting an innovative, cross national project. Since MFC is a young organization, advisors have the opportunity to be a part of shaping MFC’s future. Advisors of MFC have the ability to further their professional development and cross-cultural skills.
Who Are We Looking For?
MFC is seeking at least three individuals to add to its advisory council. We are looking for people with expertise in the following areas: fashion design, finance, non-profit management, marketing, environmental science or activism, disability activism, and the Ghanaian context. Experience in one of these areas is required, and experience in multiple is welcome. MFC values the perspectives of people who approach their work with social, environmental, and racial justice lenses. Candidates can be located anywhere because communications will occur over email, Skype, and phone.
Advisory council members are trusted, volunteer advisors who devote 2 hours per month to advising MFC on a recurring basis. They offer expertise in a specific topic area or provide general feedback about the development of the organization. Advisors has no formal or legal relationship with the organization. However, their advice is influential in shaping the future of MFC. Advisors should expect to be available every two weeks to provide feedback over Skype or phone. The full advisory council also meets 1-2 times per year over Skype to discuss progress and stay familiar with other advisors.
